Supergrip have successfully completed the supply of a J-Tube Seal Assembly and bend restrictor assembly for the Gina Krog project for a major European umbilical manufacturer.
The J-Tube Seal was a passive design that was installed onto the umbilical onboard the installation vessel and unlike competitive products incorporated a pressure verification port that proved the sealing integrity of the assembly against the umbilical prior to deployment overboard. The rear of the Seal Assembly was fitted with a latching system that automatically engaged with the J-Tube bellmouth during the pull in operation. The system was designed to fit a 102mm umbilical, seal 2 bar.g, withstand 3,000kgs on the latching system and a bending moment of 40kNm.
This was another project were Supergrip successfully utilised the (patent pending) Fast-Lok boltless bend restrictor
Sheldon Jeffrey, Supergrip senior project manager said “We are pleased to successfully complete the supply of equipment for this prestigious project for our client. It was a real pleasure working with our client to provide what we consider the optimum solution for the application. The J-Tube Seal itself incorporated a number of unique features and once again the Fast-Lok bend restrictor proved to be very successful.. In addition we were able to provide a heavy duty aluminium sled to the installation contractor which protected the system during installation along the seabed and was removed by ROV prior to installation into the bellmouth, All parties attended what was an intensive but vey successful and enjoyable factory acceptance test.”
