Supergrip (UK) Ltd have completed the supply of 5-off Diver Installed Subsea J-Tube Seals for a major global marine contractor.
All seals were designed, manufactured and successfully tested on a 7 week schedule. The seals were supplied with installation equipment to reduce diver time subsea and were designed to accept the full API tolerance range including an internal weld bead.
Factory acceptance testing was performed using a test rig that simulated the theoretical worst-case subsea condition. Ie: maximum ovality and internal weld bead. A test program was conducted over a three-day period at our facility in Colne Lancashire that was witnessed by four client representatives.
All five seal assemblies successfully passed every aspect of the test program that included assembly and installation trials as well as differential pressure testing.
Darren Blackburn, director at Supergrip (UK) Ltd stated, “This project gave us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our company capability to a valued client. We believe that the delivery schedule achieved could not have been met by many companies within the industry. It was only due to our internal manufacturing capability that we could respond in such a manner. All engineering, fabrication, machining, seal manufacture and testing was performed in-house. The only activities that were outsourced were NDT and painting”
