Supergrip have successfully completed the supply of a bespoke pipeline repair clamp for a major oil and gas company. The clamp was designed to seal over a redundant 4” NS nozzle, suffering from weld fatigue, on a 24” pipeline to extend the pipeline’s end of life term.
The clamp was successfully pressure tested to 121 bar.g with the testing process being witnessed by client representatives.
Gordon Conlon, Director at Supergrip, said, “This is another example of Supergrip’s capability in supplying bespoke pipeline repair solutions. This particular repair was platform based with the major challenge being the accessibility of the system. Clearances between the nozzle and the main line were also very tight. Therefore following completion of the engineering process we mobilised a replica template to ensure that successful fitment could be achieved. Following that, the manufacturing process was then accelerated to enable us to deliver the system on a fast track basis. The clamp was delivered on a 16 week schedule from contract award”.
