The first clamping system was a topside hang-off clamp designed to suit provide a temporary moonpool hang-off for a 118mm diameter cable and was suitable for loads of up to 11 Te. The second system supplied was an installation clamp that was fitted to the cable onboard the lay vessel and removed by ROV subsea for re-use on additional installations. This clamp was rated to design loads of 60mT.
Sheldon Jeffrey, operations manager at Supergrip, said “Both of these clamps were for the same client, who we have developed an excellent working relationship with. Each clamp was designed, manufactured, and fully tested on a fast track basis to meet vessel installation dates. The ROV releasable clamp was provided with a range of inserts to enable it to be utilized on other cable installations. Supergrip are becoming known for our clamping systems of varying designs whether for cable hold-back, hang-off, installation, or decommissioning purposes. We are pleased to say that we are currently working on an additional system for the same client.”
