Supergrip are delighted to launch the Exceflex partnership with our colleagues at Pulsefi, a collaboration specifically aimed at the supply of products and integrity management for flexible pipelines.
The first product to be released from Exceflex is the Flexible Repair System (FRS) which has been developed to provide an outer sheath repair solution for flexible risers.
Flexible risers can experience various integrity related issues which result in breaches to the outer sheath. These breaches can eventually lead to loss of containment from the pipeline and significant replacement and environmental costs to the operator. Damage to the outer sheath results in the pipe annulus becoming flooded with oxygenated seawater and increases the potential for accelerated corrosion and fatigue. The FRS combats this failure mode by offering a lightweight, flexible, cost effective and simple repair that prevents any further environmental ingress to the pipeline thereby protecting the critical load bearing components.
The system can be easily installed to live assets and is of a modular design so that it can be extended to span the length of even the most extensively damaged pipelines.
Gordon Conlon, director at Supergrip said, “We are really pleased to work with the team at Pulsefi on the supply of products to the flexible market. With their experience of manufacturing, installation and integrity management coupled with Supergrips product development capability we believe that together we can provide an experienced and innovative solution to our clients. The FRS is the first product to be developed and addresses an area in the marketplace that we believe to date isn’t addressed. The FRS doesn’t require any gel injection to seal the flexible and maintains a clear annulus to enable pressure venting and monitoring to be reintroduced. The product has undergone an extensive qualification process with testing witnessed by a third party certifying authority”
Chris Spraggon, Technical Director at Pulsefi said, “Supergrip are a highly experienced company in offshore engineering and polymer technology and their proactive approach to meeting bespoke client requirements with a fast turnaround provides a very exciting platform for the partnership to develop from. The FRS has huge potential in the marketplace to resolve some critical integrity issues we face in the flexible pipe world. New product development coupled with our excellent track record in pipeline integrity, testing, installation and repair will allow clients to access a full turnkey integrity solution through the Exceflex partnership.
