Supergrip have successfully completed the delivery of a number of clamping systems for both topside and subsea umbilical recovery operations. 7-off topside friction clamps of various sizes and load ratings have been suppied for a flexible riser decommissioning project. The clamps provided a lift and cut securing arrangment to enable sections of the riser to be removed on the platform. All clamps were supplied with calibrated installation tooling.
Further to the successful supply of an ROV Activated umbilical bundle recovery clamp in 2018. Supergrip have now supplied a similar system for the recovery of differing umbilical diameters. The clamp was fitted with interchangeable shells to suit the range of sizes to be recovered which varied between 50mm and 300mm diameter. The clamp had a design load rating to 11mT and was subjected to a full qualification test program witnessed by client representatives.
Darren Blackburn, Director at Supergrip said “We had a good run on clamping systems in 2018 and this has continued into this year. We are becoming known in the marketplace as reliable suppliers of this product. The ROV Activated clamp in particular is of a bespoke design which limits the subsea operations required to raise the umbilical from the seabed.”
